The King Is Back: KCCA Women Reappoint Hamuza Lutalo

KCCA Women have officially confirmed the return of Hamuza Lutalo as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 FUFA Women Super League season.

The club made the announcement on Tuesday, September 8, unveiling Lutalo with a bold statement: “THE KING IS BACK!”

“The return of a leader. The return of a winner. Let’s get to work.

“Welcome home, Coach Hamuza Lutalo,” the club stated.

Lutalo returns to the Palace after previously leading KCCA Women, formerly Kampala Queens, to their first-ever FUFA Women Super League title during the 2022-23 season.

His return comes after the departure of Asefa Firew Haile Gabreal, who spent two seasons in charge and guided the club to the FUFA Women Super League title as well as their maiden FUFA Women’s Cup triumph.

Lutalo now takes charge with the club aiming to build on that success and compete for major honours in the new campaign.

The returning coach will have two major targets: retaining the FUFA Women’s Cup and reclaiming the FUFA Women Super League title during the 2026-27 season.

KCCA Women have already begun shaping their squad for the new campaign, signing young and talented attacker Nusulah Nakintu and extending the contract of versatile defender Esther Namusoke.

However, the club have also seen the departures of Catherine Nagadya, Shamusa Najjuma and Patince Nabulobi.

Lutalo’s first major test will come on Sunday, September 20, when KCCA Women open their 2026-27 FUFA Women Super League campaign against newcomers URA Ladies FC.

With the return of the coach who delivered the club’s first league title, KCCA Women will hope that Lutalo can once again lead them to the top.
