Three UPL Clubs in Race for Big League Golden Boot Winner

Three Uganda Premier League clubs have entered the race to sign 2025/26 FUFA Big League Golden Boot winner Isaac Gumperom.

NEC FC, Lugazi FC, and Entebbe UPPC are all interested in securing the services of the prolific striker following his outstanding campaign with Young Elephants Academy FC.

Gumperom scored 17 goals in the recently concluded 2025/26 FUFA Big League season to finish as the league’s top scorer, attracting interest from several top-flight clubs.

Earlier this week, reports suggested that NEC FC had reached an agreement with the lethal forward. However, other clubs have since tabled attractive offers in an attempt to win the race for his signature.

Entebbe UPPC are aware that their leading striker, Ambrose Kigozi, is likely to leave the club following strong interest from Kenyan giants AFC Leopards. Gumperom has been identified as a potential replacement.

Kigozi scored 12 goals in the Uganda Premier League last season, and the club believes Gumperom possesses the qualities needed to fill the void should the forward depart.

Lugazi FC are also in the market for a prolific goalscorer and view Gumperom as an ideal addition to their squad.

However, the club is yet to appoint a new head coach following the departure of Simon Peter Mugerwa and his assistant Robert Sekweyama.

Sources indicate that Gumperom may be reluctant to commit his future to Lugazi before the club confirms its new technical leadership.

According to reliable sources, Entebbe UPPC currently lead the race for the 24-year-old striker.

The prospect of regular playing time is believed to be a key factor working in their favour, giving the Printers an advantage over their competitors.

NEC FC remain strong contenders, with their financial package also capable of attracting the striker. However, Gumperom could face stiff competition for playing time at a club that already boasts several quality attacking options.
