Three-Way Race for FWSL April Player of the Month Award

The nominees for the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League Player of the Month award for April have been revealed.

Jesca Namanda, Marion Serenge, and Latifah Nakasi are the three players shortlisted for the accolade.

The award will recognize the best performer during the month of April, with performances from Matchdays 16 to 19 (four games) taken into consideration.

Jesca Namanda recorded four goals and two assist across the period.

She scored and assisted in She Corporate FC’s 2-1 victory over Makerere University, netted and assisted in a 3-2 win against Rines FC, and scored a brace in a 2-0 victory over Kampala Queens FC in Njeru.

Latifah Nakasi registered five goals and one assist during the same period.

The prolific forward scored the only goal in Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC’s win over Lady Doves FC on Matchday 17, before delivering a standout performance with four goals and one assist in an emphatic 8-0 victory over Asubo Ladies FC.

Unlike the other two nominees, Marion Serenge featured in only one match during the period under review.

On Matchday 16, Olila High School WFC failed to turn up for their fixture against St Noa Girls FC, resulting in a walkover.

On Matchday 17, Serenge scored a hat-trick against Asubo Ladies FC in the only game she played.

Matches on Matchdays 18 and 19 involving St Noa were postponed due to the unavailability of several players who were with the Uganda U17 women’s national team (Teen Cranes) for their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe.

Last month, Kampala Queens midfielder Zaitun Namaganda was awarded the Best Player of the Month.

The winner of the award will receive a trophy and a cash prize of UGX 500,000.
