Uganda Cranes Midfielder Agrees Deal with Vipers
Uganda Cranes midfielder Joel Sserunjogi has agreed terms to join Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC.
The highly rated midfielder is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Venoms following the expiry of his contract with KCCA FC.
Sserunjogi has established himself as one of the standout midfielders in Ugandan football since joining KCCA FC at the start of the 2023-24 season.
Known for his energy, work rate, and ability to operate effectively from box to box, the midfielder has been a key figure for both club and country in recent seasons.
His impressive performances earned him national team recognition, and he played an important role in Uganda Cranes’ historic run to the quarter-finals of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The move is expected to further strengthen Vipers’ squad as the club prepares for domestic and continental assignments next season.
The Kitende-based side completed the signing of versatile defender Nicholas Mwere, who joined on a three-year contract as a free agent following the expiry of his deal with BUL FC.
Meanwhile, Vipers confirmed the departure of head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert on Sunday, June 7, following the expiry of his contract.
The club is now expected to intensify its search for a new head coach as preparations for the 2026-27 season continue.
