Uganda Cranes Midfielder Lwanga Seals Move to Kenyan Giants
Uganda Cranes midfielder Taddeo Lwanga has completed a move to Kenyan giants AFC Leopards from Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, this website understands.
The experienced midfielder has reportedly signed a two-year employment contract with the Nairobi-based club ahead of the new season.
Lwanga played a pivotal role in Vipers SC’s successful 2025/26 Uganda Premier League title-winning campaign, providing leadership, experience, and stability in midfield.
Operating primarily as a defensive midfielder, Lwanga shielded the backline effectively throughout the season and was instrumental as Vipers recorded 17 clean sheets, the joint-highest tally in the league.
The hardworking midfielder featured in 23 of Vipers’ 30 league matches last season, underlining his importance to the Venoms’ title triumph.
AFC Leopards finished second in the Kenyan Premier League standings and are strengthening their squad as they seek to mount a serious challenge for the league title next season.
Vipers SC have already moved to fill the void left by Lwanga’s departure, securing the services of Joel Sserunjogi from KCCA FC as part of their plans to remain competitive on all fronts.
At international level, Lwanga has earned several caps for the Uganda Cranes and has represented the national team at major tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The box-to-box midfielder boasts a wealth of experience, having previously featured for Vipers SC, SC Villa, APR FC, Simba SC, Tanta SC, and several other clubs during his professional career.
