Uganda Cranes Striker Completes Move to Tanzanian Side Azam FC

Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe has completed a move to Tanzanian Premier League side Azam FC.

According to senior sports journalist Clive Kyazze of CK Sports, the transfer was confirmed on his official social media platforms.

Reports indicate that Ahimbisibwe agreed personal terms with Azam FC and signed a two-year contract with the club.

The prolific forward had attracted interest from several clubs across the region, including Kenyan giants Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.

Nicknamed “The Hunter”, Ahimbisibwe joined KCCA FC in 2025 from URA FC and enjoyed a remarkable debut season at Lugogo.

He scored 14 goals and provided three assists in the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League campaign, finishing as the league’s top scorer and winning the Golden Boot award.

Over the last two Uganda Premier League seasons, Ahimbisibwe has amassed an impressive tally of 30 goals and eight assists, cementing his status as one of the country’s most consistent forwards.

His departure leaves KCCA FC with the challenge of finding a suitable replacement ahead of the new season as the club seeks to end an eight-year wait for the league title.

At Azam FC, Ahimbisibwe will join a growing list of Ugandan players plying their trade in Tanzania, including Allan Okello of Young Africans and Khalid Aucho of Singida Black Stars.

On the international stage, Ahimbisibwe was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that made history at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), reaching the quarter-finals.

He also scored a memorable goal against Guinea during the tournament.

The striker is currently part of the Uganda Cranes squad that had travelled to Morocco for international friendly matches against Tanzania and Madagascar.

However, both fixtures were called off on Wednesday, June 3.

Ahimbisibwe has previously featured for Synergy FC, Nyamityobora FC, UPDF FC, URA FC, and KCCA FC during his professional career.
