Kitara FC vs Vipers SC, Butema, 4pm
Kitara FC host Vipers SC today in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-finals, with both sides seeking to secure an early advantage.
Coming into this fixture, Kitara are buoyed by their recent home victory over SC Villa earlier this week, while Vipers SC needed a late equaliser from Glodi Beyuku to salvage a draw against KCCA FC.
The Venoms have already arrived in Hoima for what promises to be another crucial away encounter.
In 2024, Vipers SC were eliminated by Kitara FC at the quarter-final stage of the Uganda Cup, with the Royals progressing on penalties after a 2-2 draw following extra time. Kitara went on to win the competition that year.
The following season, however, Vipers SC avenged that defeat by eliminating Kitara in the semi-finals with a 2-0 aggregate victory, before going on to lift the trophy after defeating KCCA FC in the final.
Playing at home, Kitara will be eager to capitalise and take a first-leg advantage. However, Vipers will aim to avoid defeat in Hoima, setting up what is expected to be a highly competitive contest.
When the two sides last met in the Uganda Premier League, the match ended in a goalless draw at Kitende.
Vipers SC currently lead the Uganda Premier League standings, sitting five points ahead of Kitara FC.
The Royals will be keen to dent Vipers’ hopes of securing a domestic double, with the Uganda Cup presenting their best opportunity to halt the Venoms’ dominance.
