Uganda Cup: Semifinal Draw Revealed
By: Geoffrey Mugabi
The draw for the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinals was conducted this morning at Umoja House in Nakasero.
Kitara FC will face Vipers SC, while URA FC will take on SC Villa as the four teams battle for the two remaining places in the final.
In the first leg, Kitara will host Vipers, while SC Villa will travel to face URA FC.
The first-leg matches will be played between May 1 and 3, while the return legs are scheduled for May 15 to 17, 2026.
The semifinals will be played on a home-and-away basis, with the team that registers the better aggregate score over the two legs progressing to the final.
If the teams are level on aggregate after both legs, the away goals rule will apply. If still tied, the winner will be determined by a penalty shootout, with no extra time played.
To reach the semifinals, Vipers eliminated NEC FC on penalties, SC Villa knocked out Happy Boys Kagaba, URA FC overcame KCCA FC on penalties, and Kitara defeated Express FC.
Vipers are the defending champions, having beaten KCCA FC 2-0 in last year’s final at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
Among the four semifinalists, SC Villa are the most successful side in the competition with nine titles, followed by Vipers with four and URA FC with three, while Kitara have won it once.
The competition, which started in 1971, remains the oldest knockout tournament in Ugandan football.
