Uganda Cup: URA Cruise Past Tapoh to Reach Quarterfinals

URA FC secured a comfortable 3–0 victory over Tapoh United to advance to the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The match, played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, saw goals from Olimi Nyarwa, an own goal by Joseph Okiror, and Godfrey Ssekibengo seal a dominant win for the Tax Collectors.

Nyarwa opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a superb curling effort, assisted by Derrick Kakoza, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

URA doubled their lead in the 65th minute when Okiror turned the ball into his own net following a deflected shot from Moses Aliro.

Ssekibengo added the third goal in the 77th minute with a well-taken half-volley from inside the box, assisted by Denis Kisiriko.

The victory sends URA FC into the last eight as the seventh team to qualify, joining Vipers SC, KCCA FC, NEC FC, Kitara FC, Happy Boys Kagaba, and SC Villa.

The result also validated head coach Hussein Mbalangu’s pre-match remarks, as his side delivered a strong performance to secure progression.

The final quarterfinal slot will be decided later this evening when Express FC face Red Devo FC at the same venue.
