Preview: URA, SC Villa Target First-Leg Advantage

URA FC and SC Villa will both be targeting a first-leg advantage when they meet this evening in the first leg of the Uganda Cup semifinals.

The match, set to be played under the floodlights at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, presents a crucial opportunity for both sides, who see the Uganda Cup as their best chance of securing silverware this season.

SC Villa sit fourth in the Uganda Premier League and recently suffered a 2-0 defeat to Kitara, a result that significantly dented their title ambitions.

URA FC, on the other hand, are 11th in the league and have endured a disappointing campaign, but lifting the Uganda Cup could provide a major boost to their season.

To reach the semifinals, SC Villa edged past Happy Boys Kagaba thanks to a second-half goal from Andrew Otim.

URA FC, meanwhile, needed late goals from Ronald Otti and Innocent Kisolo to secure a 2-2 draw against KCCA FC before progressing via a penalty shootout, with goalkeeper Muhammad Ssekkeba making crucial saves.

The two teams have met twice this season, with SC Villa registering one win and one draw.

SC Villa are chasing their 10th Uganda Cup title, while URA FC have lifted the trophy three times.

Stats – All Meetings
SC Villa – 5
Draw – 9
URA FC – 5

Prediction: URA FC 0-1 SC Villa
