The 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season will climax on Saturday with Vipers SC set to officially celebrate their eighth league title.
As the curtain falls on another memorable campaign, here is a look at the clubs that have lifted Uganda’s top-flight league trophy since the competition’s inception.
SC Villa Still the Record Champions
SC Villa remain the most successful club in Uganda Premier League history with 17 league titles.
The Jogoos won their first championship in 1982 before dominating Ugandan football throughout the 1980s and early 2000s. Their league triumphs came in 1982, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and most recently in the 2023/24 season.
KCCA FC’s Rich Legacy
KCCA FC are second on the all-time list with 13 league titles.
The Kasasiro Boys first won the league in 1976 before successfully defending it in 1977. More championships followed in 1981, 1983, 1985, 1991, and 1997.
After their 1997 triumph, KCCA FC endured an 11-year wait before returning to the summit under coach Mike Mutebi in the 2007/08 season.
They later added more titles in the 2012/13, 2013/14, 2015/16, 2016/17, and 2018/19 seasons, which remains their most recent league crown.

Vipers SC’s Rise to Dominance
Vipers SC have established themselves as one of the dominant forces in Ugandan football over the past decade.
The 2025/26 title will be their eighth league championship. The Venoms first won the league in the 2009/10 season and have since added titles in 2014/15, 2017/18, 2019/20, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2024/25, and now 2025/26.
Since winning their maiden title, no club has lifted more Uganda Premier League trophies than Vipers SC.
Express FC Among Uganda’s Giants
Express FC are seven-time Uganda Premier League champions.
The Red Eagles won league titles in 1974, 1975, 1993, 1995, 1996, 2011/12, and most recently in the 2020/21 season.
URA FC’s Golden Era
URA FC are four-time league champions.
The Tax Collectors won the league in 2005/06, 2006/07, 2008/09, and 2010/11 during one of the club’s most successful periods.

Other Former Champions
Maroons FC won the league twice in 1968/69 and 1969.
UPDF FC, then known as Simba FC, lifted the title in 1971 and 1977.
Coffee United SC won the league in 1970.
Nile Breweries FC were crowned champions in 1980.
Police FC won the title in 2005.
Uganda Commercial Bank FC lifted the trophy in 1979.
