Uganda Premier League Giants Turn to Morley Byekwaso
Express FC are in advanced talks to appoint Morley Byekwaso as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
According to Kawowo Sports, Byekwaso has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Jimmy Kintu, who recently left the Red Eagles to take over at URA FC.
The CAF A Licence holder has been without a club since the end of the 2024/25 season and is now on the verge of making a return to the Uganda Premier League.
A former Express FC player, Byekwaso would return to a familiar environment and will be aiming to guide the Red Eagles back to competing for major honours.
As part of the club’s restructuring efforts, Express recently appointed renowned sports journalist Becky Cynthia Nakimera as the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to strengthen operations both on and off the pitch.
Kawowo Sports also reports that Hajji Adam Golooba Ntale is set to be appointed as the club’s new team manager, replacing Wilfred Mudanya.
Express endured a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, finishing 10th in the Uganda Premier League standings. The club will be hoping for a much-improved season as it rebuilds its technical team and playing squad.
A number of player departures and new signings are expected once the club officially confirms its new head coach.
The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on August 28, 2026, with the fixture list expected to be released later this month.
