Uganda Premier League: KCCA, SC Villa Battle for Second Place on Final Day

The 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season will conclude on Saturday, May 23, with seven matches on the card as KCCA FC and SC Villa battle for a second-place finish.

KCCA FC will end the season without silverware, but the Kasasiro Boys still have an opportunity to secure second place if they defeat Mbarara City FC at Lugogo.

In the first-round meeting, KCCA defeated Mbarara City 2-1 away from home courtesy of goals from Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Herbert Achayi, while Muhamad Kanyike scored the consolation for the hosts.

Ahimbisibwe’s pursuit of the Golden Boot could also play a crucial role in Saturday’s encounter. The KCCA forward currently leads the scoring charts with 13 goals and will compete with Ambrose Kigozi and Karim Watambala, who have scored 12 and 11 goals respectively.

Meanwhile, SC Villa sit third on the table with 58 points, one behind KCCA. The Jogoos can finish second if they beat UPDF FC and KCCA fail to secure victory against Mbarara City.

In the reverse fixture, Ibrahim Kasinde scored the decisive goal as Villa secured a 1-0 away victory over UPDF FC.

SC Villa also remain in contention for silverware this season as they prepare to face Kitara FC in the Uganda Cup final scheduled for Saturday, May 30 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

The Uganda Premier League title has already been secured by Vipers SC, who sealed the championship with a game to spare.

The Venoms will host Express FC at Kitende on Saturday, where they will officially be crowned champions.

Calvary FC and Buhimba United Saints F.C. are the two clubs already relegated from the division.
