Reigning Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will be away to Maroons FC on Tuesday as they look to seal the 2025/26 league title with one match to spare.

The Venoms head into the encounter at Wankulukuku knowing that victory will confirm them as league champions ahead of their final match of the season against Express FC.

Vipers come into the game on the back of disappointment after being eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by Kitara FC, ending their hopes of completing a domestic double this season.

In the reverse fixture played in Kitende, Vipers defeated Maroons FC 2-1 courtesy of goals from Usama Arafat and Yunus Sentamu, while Hillary Mukundane scored an own goal for Maroons.

The Venoms are currently enduring a difficult run, having gone five consecutive matches without victory in all competitions.

Maroons FC are also struggling for form, having failed to win any of their last three league matches. However, they have not lost a home game in the league for the last three months, with their previous defeat at home coming in a 1-0 loss to Kitara FC.

A win for Vipers would move them to 64 points and mathematically secure the league title.

Even if Vipers were to lose their final game against Express FC and KCCA FC, currently on 58 points, win their remaining two matches, both teams would finish level on 64 points. However, Vipers would still be crowned champions due to their superior head-to-head record against KCCA, which is the deciding factor when teams finish level on points.

Meanwhile, Maroons FC are targeting victory to boost their hopes of finishing in the top eight. A win would take them to 38 points, provided Express FC and BUL FC fail to win their respective matches.

Maroons are aiming to secure qualification for next season’s FUFA Super 8 tournament by finishing among the top eight teams in the league.

Historically, Vipers SC have dominated this fixture. In 14 meetings between the two sides, the Venoms have won nine matches and drawn five, with Maroons yet to register a victory.
