UPDF FC Target First Away Win of 2026 to Boost Survival Hopes
Tuesday, April 21
BUL FC vs UPDF FC, 4pm – Njeru
UPDF FC will be aiming to secure their first away league victory of 2026 when they face BUL FC on Tuesday in matchday 24 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The encounter, set to be played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, presents a crucial opportunity for the visitors, who find themselves in a must-win situation as they fight to avoid relegation.
UPDF FC head into the fixture on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Express FC in their previous match, where Elvis Ssekajugo scored a late winner.
BUL FC, on the other hand, played out a 1-1 draw with URA FC and are winless in their last three league games.
In the reverse fixture, Karim Ndugwa scored the only goal as BUL FC secured a 1-0 victory over UPDF FC away from home.
However, UPDF will draw confidence from last season’s meeting in Njeru, where they registered a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Brian Kalumba and Christopher Kamagu.
The visitors have struggled on the road this year, having failed to win an away league match since their 1-0 victory over Calvary in November 2025. They will be eager to end that run and revive their survival campaign.

Historically, BUL FC have had the upper hand in this fixture, winning seven of the last 13 league meetings, with UPDF FC claiming four victories and two matches ending in draws.
The fixture has also been notable for goals, with 40 scored across those encounters, an average of over three per game.
Defensively, UPDF FC have struggled, keeping just two clean sheets in their last 14 matches in all competitions.
They now face a BUL FC side that has been relatively consistent at home, failing to score only once in their last six matches in Njeru.
A win for BUL FC would see them maintain their position in eighth place with 34 points as they aim to secure a top-eight finish and qualify for next season’s FUFA Super 8 tournament.
For UPDF FC, victory would provide a significant boost in their relegation battle, lifting them to 20 points and potentially moving them five points clear of the relegation zone, depending on results elsewhere, particularly if Buhimba United lose to table leaders Vipers SC.
