UPL: URA Host SC Villa in Night Football Clash

As Matchday Two of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League continues, URA FC will host SC Villa under the floodlights at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial, on Friday night.

Having started the season on a perfect note against Maroons FC, the Tax Collectors will be looking to maintain their winning start to the 2026-27 campaign when they face Uganda’s record champions.

SC Villa, on the other hand, will be seeking their first win of the season after being held to a 1-1 draw by Kitara FC at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on Saturday.

Both sides return to action at exactly 8:00pm, with SC Villa having had almost a full day more to rest than URA FC, who played their opening match on Sunday at Luzira Prisons Stadium.

URA FC head coach Jimy Kintu, ahead of his first home game in charge, believes his team is in good shape to handle a match of this magnitude.

“It’s good to play at home. We understand what SC Villa can bring, but we are also a team that works towards improvement in every game.

“In our first game, although we won against Maroons FC, we saw some mistakes that needed to be addressed. In the sessions, I believe we have handled them severely. Now, we are in good shape to handle a game of this caliber,” he added.

In the last eight meetings between the two sides, SC Villa have dominated the fixture with five victories. Three of those wins came last season, including a 2-0 victory at Hamz Stadium, while the other was recorded away from home in the Uganda Cup.

In the league, their most recent clash at Hamz Stadium ended in a goalless draw, although SC Villa had won the first leg 3-0.

URA FC’s last victory over SC Villa came on the final day of the 2022-23 season, when they secured a 1-0 win that denied the record champions the league title.

Since then, URA FC have struggled against SC Villa, managing just three draws while conceding 10 goals and scoring only twice across their next eight meetings.

Before the beginning of the 2023-24 season, URA FC had held the upper hand in the fixture, remaining unbeaten in 11 consecutive meetings stretching back to February 28, 2018.
