URA Ladies Add Teen Sensation Midfielder to Squad Ahead of Super League Debut

FUFA Women Super League newcomers URA Ladies FC have strengthened their squad with the signing of promising attacking midfielder Tamisi Shafiga ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Sports Light Uganda understands that the 18-year-old has already signed with the newly promoted side and will represent the club during their maiden campaign in the top flight.

Shafiga joins URA Ladies from fellow FUFA Women Super League side Amus College WFC, where she impressed with her technical ability and attacking qualities.

The talented midfielder becomes URA Ladies’ third signing of the transfer window, following the arrivals of experienced defender Patience Nabulobi and midfielder Shamusa Najjuma.

Shafiga has also represented Uganda at youth international level, featuring for the U17 Women’s National Team, the Teen Cranes, and the U20 side, the Queen Cranes.

Meanwhile, Sports Light Uganda understands that URA Ladies are in negotiations with midfielder Zaitun Namaganda over a possible move to the club.

With ambitions of challenging for the league title in their debut season, URA Ladies are expected to make further additions to their squad as they continue preparations for the new campaign.

The club also approached coaches Nyanzi Bright Taddeo and Sowedi Kawooya about joining their technical staff ahead of the upcoming season. However, the two parties could not reach an agreement.

The 2026/27 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League is scheduled to kick off on September 12, 2026.
