Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have officially confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya and defender Grant Matsiko.
The club announced the exits through its official social media platforms on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Ssekagya returned to Vipers SC in August 2024 on a three-year contract. However, despite having one year remaining on his deal, both parties mutually agreed to terminate the contract, bringing his second spell at the club to an end.
Regarded as one of Uganda’s talented goalkeepers, Ssekagya struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Kitende. His return to the club was met with mixed reactions, with many questioning whether he would secure sufficient playing time.
The shot-stopper found it difficult to break into the starting lineup ahead of Alfred Mudekereza and Denis Kiggundu, limiting his opportunities throughout his stay.
Meanwhile, defender Grant Matsiko has also left the Venoms after a frustrating campaign.
The experienced defender has already been unveiled by Uganda Premier League side Entebbe UPPC, where he has signed a two-year contract.

Matsiko managed only two league appearances last season, with limited playing time influencing his decision to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Last week, Vipers confirmed the departure of defensive midfielder Taddeo Lwanga who joined Kenyan side AFC Leopards.
As they prepare to defend their league title, Vipers have already strengthened their squad with the signings of midfielder Joel Sserunjogi, Jacques Mangoba and Nicholas Mwere.
The club also appointed French tactician Denis Lavagne as head coach on a two-year contract, with the experienced manager already beginning preparations for the new season.
More arrivals and departures are expected at the Kitende-based club as the eight-time Uganda Premier League champions continue reshaping their squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
