Vipers Postpone Start of Pre-Season Training

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have postponed the start of their pre-season training ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The club had initially scheduled pre-season training to begin on Saturday, June 27, but has now pushed the start date to Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

In a statement released by the club, Vipers said:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, our pre-season training that was supposed to start on Saturday, June 27, has been postponed to Wednesday, July 1, 2026.”

The Venoms will begin preparations for what promises to be a demanding season, with the club set to compete on domestic, regional, and continental fronts.

Vipers have already confirmed their participation in the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, which is scheduled to run from July 18 to August 9.

The Kitende-based side will also feature in the FUFA Super 8 tournament from August 1 to 16 before taking on Uganda Cup holders Kitara FC in the FUFA Super Cup on August 23.

The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season will kick off on August 28, with Vipers aiming to successfully defend the title they won last season.

In addition, the club will represent Uganda in the CAF Champions League, with their continental campaign expected to begin in September.

Vipers will also compete in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, bringing the total number of competitions they are expected to participate in next season to six.

With a busy schedule ahead, the club is expected to further strengthen its squad during the transfer window.

The Venoms have already secured the signings of Nicholas Mwere from BUL FC and Joel Sserunjogi from KCCA FC, while more arrivals are anticipated in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Vipers have parted ways with title-winning head coach Jacky Minnaert and are expected to unveil his successor soon as preparations for the new season gather momentum.
