Vipers Set to Part Ways with Defender

Uganda Premier League reigning champions Vipers SC are set to part ways with left-back Derrick Ndahiro after deciding not to renew his contract, Sports Light Uganda understands.

Ndahiro’s contract expired at the end of the 2025-26 season following the completion of the two-year deal he signed when he joined the Venoms from URA FC in 2024.

The defender struggled for regular playing time during the recently concluded campaign, with Enock Luyima establishing himself as the club’s first-choice left-back.

Ndahiro made only 10 league appearances out of a possible 30 matches, a factor that is believed to have influenced the club’s decision.

Despite his limited involvement last season, Ndahiro will leave Vipers with an impressive collection of silverware.

In his first season at Kitende, he helped the club win a domestic double of the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup before adding another league title in the 2025-26 campaign.

His chances of remaining at the club were further reduced following the arrival of versatile defender Nicholas Mwere, who recently joined the Venoms on a three-year contract from BUL FC.

The 25-year-old boasts considerable top-flight experience, having made 114 league appearances across seven seasons.

He has previously featured for URA FC, SC Villa, and Rwanda’s Police FC.

Ndahiro is expected to join Livingstone Mulondo, Mark Yallah, and Robin Kane among the players who have reportedly received internal communication regarding their departure from the club.

More exits are anticipated at Vipers as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the 2026-27 season, during which the Venoms will compete in the Uganda Premier League, Uganda Cup, FUFA Super Cup, FUFA Super 8, CECAFA Kagame Cup, and CAF Champions League.
