Wadada Set for CAF Confederation Cup Move

Kitara FC have opened talks to sign Vipers SC right-back Nicholas Wadada as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the 2026-27 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Sports Light Uganda understands that the Hoima-based club has already contacted the experienced defender over a potential move.

Wadada, who is out of contract, is reportedly open to the move, with Vipers not expected to renew his deal.

The 2026 Uganda Cup winners have already tabled a two-year contract offer for the experienced full-back.

Wadada rejoined Vipers in 2024 on a two-year contract, which expired at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Despite winning the Uganda Premier League title with the Venoms last season, the defender struggled for playing time, making only three league appearances throughout the campaign.

The attacking right-back has previously featured for Azam FC, Ihefu FC, Singida Black Stars, and other clubs.

His experience, leadership, and attacking qualities are expected to add significant value to Kitara as they assemble a competitive squad for continental football.

With Grant Matsiko having already left Vipers to join Entebbe UPPC and Wadada also set to depart, the Venoms are expected to sign another right-back to provide competition for Ashraf Mandela.

Kitara have already strengthened their squad by signing midfielder Diego Ssemugera from SC Villa on a two-year contract, while Martin Kizza is also understood to have agreed personal terms with the club.

Club president Deo Kasozi recently stated that Kitara’s target in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup is to progress beyond the preliminary rounds and secure qualification for the group stage.
