Ugandan Zainah Nandede and Ruth Aturo helped Simba Queens beat 10-player rivals Yanga Princess 3-0 in the Community Shield semi-final on Wednesday to storm the final.

In the semi-final played at KMC Stadium on Wednesday evening, Viviane Corazone opened the scoring in the 23rd minute to give Simba Queens a first-half advantage.

In the second half, Senaf Demise doubled the lead in the 57th minute before Marry Siyame sealed the victory late in the game.

Nandede played the full game, while Ruth Aturo was withdrawn in the 53rd minute after picking up an injury and was replaced by Janeth Shija.

The injury leaves Aturo’s availability for the Crested Cranes in doubt ahead of their October double-header against Zambia in the Olympic qualifiers, which could be a major blow for Uganda.

In the same game, Crested Cranes midfielder Reticia Nabbosa was shown a red card, leaving Yanga Princess with 10 players.

Yanga Princess’s new faces Sumaya Komuntale and Joan Nabirye started the game, while Resty Kobusobozi came off the bench. Goalkeeper Molly Naava was an unused substitute.

Yanga Princess signed the new players with high expectations of challenging big clubs such as Simba Queens and JKT Queens. However, Wednesday’s result raises questions about the team’s readiness and leaves a major task ahead as the new league season approaches.

Meanwhile, Fatuma Said’s second-half lone goal was enough to hand JKT Queens a victory over Mashujaa Queens, setting up a repeat of last year’s Community Shield final against Simba Queens.
