Vipers SC Crowned Uganda Premier League Champions

Over the weekend, Vipers SC were crowned Uganda Premier League champions for the second consecutive season and secured their eighth league title since winning their maiden crown in the 2009/10 campaign.

The Venoms will now represent Uganda in next season’s CAF Champions League.

Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa Fulfils UGX 300 Million Promise

Vipers president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa fulfilled his UGX 300 million pledge to the players after the club won the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League title.

Dr. Mulindwa had promised the team the reward in March if they successfully defended the league crown. He had also earlier awarded the squad UGX 50 million for finishing top of the table at the end of the first round.

On Saturday, May 23, after Vipers were officially crowned champions, the club president delivered the promised bonus.

Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns Crowned CAF Champions League Winners

On Sunday, May 24, Mamelodi Sundowns, home to Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango, were crowned CAF Champions League winners after holding AS FAR Rabat to a 1-1 draw in the second leg of the final.

Sundowns secured a 2-1 aggregate victory after winning the first leg 1-0 in South Africa.

Mohamed Rabie scored for AS FAR Rabat, while Teboho Mokoena equalised for Sundowns. Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams also saved a second-half penalty from Rabie to keep the scores level and help Sundowns secure their second CAF Champions League title.

The triumph marks a second CAF Champions League title for Denis Onyango with the South African giants.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe Wins Uganda Premier League Golden Boot

KCCA FC striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored on the final day of the season to take his tally to 14 league goals and claim the Uganda Premier League Golden Boot award.

KCCA FC finished second in the league standings.

Uganda national under-17 football team Qualify for FIFA U17 World Cup

The Uganda Cubs defeated Ghana 8-7 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in normal time to qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.

Uganda has been drawn in Group C alongside Argentina national under-17 football team, Australia national under-17 football team, and Denmark national under-17 football team.

Arsenal F.C Fans Celebrate Premier League Triumph

After a 22-year wait, Arsenal F.C. won the English Premier League title under coach Mikel Arteta.

On Sunday, May 24, Arsenal fans across the world, including in Uganda, celebrated the club’s title triumph on the crowning day.

Uganda national football team Squad for Tanzania and Madagascar Friendlies Named

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put named the squad that will face Tanzania national football team and Madagascar national football team in international friendly matches scheduled to take place in Morocco next month.

Uganda will play Tanzania on June 5 before facing Madagascar three days later.

Kitara FC Petition FUFA Over Uganda Cup Final Venue

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations confirmed that this year’s Uganda Cup final will be played on Saturday, May 30, at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

However, Kitara FC wrote to FUFA requesting a change of venue, arguing that Kadiba is the home ground of their final opponents SC Villa and therefore gives them an unfair advantage.

FUFA is yet to make a final decision, although the initial arrangement remains in place.

Ntugasaze FC Earn Uganda Premier League Promotion

Following the promotion of Kigezi HomeBoyz FC and Blacks Power FC, Ntugasaze FC also secured promotion to the Uganda Premier League over the weekend.

Kataka FC with 48 points and Paidha Black Angels FC with 47 points will head into the final day of the FUFA Big League season with a chance of claiming the last remaining promotion slot.
