The 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season will officially conclude on Saturday afternoon with Matchday 30, but one major individual award remains undecided — the Golden Boot.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe (13), Ambrose Kigozi (12), Karim Watambala (11), and Usama Arafat (10) are the leading contenders heading into the final day of the season.
But the big question remains: who is favourite to finish as the league’s top scorer?
Let’s take a closer look at the contenders.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe
The KCCA FC forward heads into the final day as the current top scorer with 13 goals.
Ahimbisibwe will win the Golden Boot outright if none of his challengers score enough goals to overtake him. If Ambrose Kigozi scores once and Ahimbisibwe fails to score, the two players will share the award.
KCCA FC face Mbarara City on the final day, a side Ahimbisibwe scored against in the first round.
In KCCA’s last four league games, Ahimbisibwe has scored two goals, both coming at home. He failed to score in the two away matches during that period, which could give him an added advantage since Saturday’s game will be played at Lugogo.
Ambrose Kigozi
The Entebbe UPPC striker has enjoyed an impressive debut Uganda Premier League campaign and remains firmly in the Golden Boot race with 12 goals.
Kigozi could win the award outright if he scores a brace and Ahimbisibwe fails to score against Mbarara City.
The striker has scored in two of his last four league matches, including in the previous game against Police FC in Kamwokya.
Eight of his 12 league goals have come away from home including two against BUL FC, the same opponents Entebbe UPPC host on the final day.

Karim Watambala
The hardworking Vipers midfielder has established himself as one of the league’s standout performers this season.
Scoring 11 goals as a midfielder is a remarkable achievement and highlights the impact Watambala has made throughout the campaign.
Watambala can still win the Golden Boot, although he requires a huge final-day performance. If he scores a hat-trick and Ahimbisibwe fails to score, he would move ahead and claim the award outright.
If Watambala scores twice and Ahimbisibwe does not score, the two players would share the Golden Boot.
With the league title already secured, Watambala may play with less pressure and focus more on adding to his impressive goal tally.
Winning the Golden Boot would further crown what has already been a brilliant season for the Vipers midfielder.
Usama Arafat
The Vipers SC forward has scored 10 league goals in his debut season and still has an outside chance of winning the award.
Arafat would need to score a hat-trick against Express FC and hope Ahimbisibwe fails to score in order to finish level at the top.
Winning the league title while registering 10 goals and five assists in his first season at the club already represents an outstanding campaign for the forward.
Golden Boot Favourite
Heading into the final day, KCCA FC striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe remains the favourite to finish as the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League top scorer.
