Yanga Princess Unveil Ugandan Defender Sumaya Komuntale

Ugandan left-back Sumaya Komuntale has been officially unveiled by Tanzanian side Yanga Princess.

Sports Light Uganda earlier reported that Komuntale had completed a move to Yanga Princess, and on Friday, August 21, the club confirmed her signing through its official social media platforms.

The 23-year-old defender has signed a two-year contract that will keep her at the club until 2028.

Komuntale joins Yanga Princess from She Corporate, where she spent the remainder of the second round of the 2025/26 season.

The former Tooro Queens captain is reportedly among the top earners at the club following what is understood to have been a lucrative deal.

Komuntale is widely regarded as one of Uganda’s best left-backs and has represented the country at Teen Cranes, Uganda Queens and Crested Cranes level.

She is known for delivering dangerous crosses into the opponents’ box, reading the game well and possessing a strong set-piece ability.

The soft-spoken defender has previously featured for Tooro Queens, Kampala Queens and She Corporate before making the move to Yanga Princess.

Yanga Princess are expected to unveil more Ugandan players as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of a campaign in which they will aim to challenge Tanzanian giants Simba Queens and JKT Queens for the league title.
