Match Officials Confirmed for 2026 Masaza Cup Opening Match

Saturday, June 13
Buweekula vs Kyadondo, 4:00 PM – Mubende PTC Playground

The match officials for the opening fixture of the 2026 Masaza Cup have been confirmed ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated clash between defending champions Buweekula and Kyadondo.

The tournament curtain-raiser will be played at Mubende PTC Playground, with Buweekula beginning the defence of their crown against Kyadondo in a Bulange Group encounter.

Joseph Masembe has been appointed as the centre referee for the match and will be assisted by Aziz Mugalu and Julius Mukasa as the first and second assistant referees respectively.

Jjumba Solomon will serve as the fourth official for the opening fixture.

Buweekula head into the contest as defending champions after defeating Ssingo to win the 2025 Masaza Cup title.

They will be eager to begin their title defence with a positive result in front of their home supporters.

Kyadondo, meanwhile, are aiming to end a lengthy wait for Masaza Cup glory, having gone nearly two decades without lifting the trophy.

In a bid to strengthen their title ambitions, Kyadondo appointed Bright Taddeo Nyanzi as head coach. Nyanzi previously served as assistant coach to Simon Peter Mugerwa when Busiro won the 2023 Masaza Cup title.

Renowned for his high-pressing style of play, Nyanzi faces a difficult first assignment as head coach against the reigning champions, who not only possess experience but also enjoy home advantage.
