SC Villa Appoint Byron Okuba as Strength and Conditioning Coach
Uganda Premier League record champions SC Villa have continued strengthening their technical team ahead of the 2026/27 season with the appointment of a new strength and conditioning coach.
The 17-time league champions have confirmed the appointment of Byron Okuba as the club’s new Strength and Conditioning Coach. Okuba has already commenced his duties with the Jogoos as preparations for the new season gather pace.
Okuba is an elite sports performance specialist and the founder of Forge Performance. He brings a wealth of experience in athlete development and sports performance, having worked across several sporting disciplines, including rugby and swimming.

Speaking after his appointment, Okuba expressed his excitement at joining the country’s most successful football club.
“It is an immense privilege to join SC Villa, the most decorated club in Ugandan football. I look forward to working alongside the club’s outstanding technical and medical teams to optimize athlete readiness, maximize performance, and build the physical resilience needed to compete at the highest level.”
SC Villa have been active in the transfer market ahead of the new campaign. The club recently signed John Asiimwe from Express FC to strengthen the squad following the departure of Hassan Mubiru, who joined Azam FC in Tanzania.
The Jogoos also secured the signing of 2025/26 FUFA Big League Golden Boot winner Isaac Gumperom, who joined from Young Elephants Academy FC on a four-year contract.
Versatile forward Denis Ojara has also signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2029 after missing the last three seasons with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Meanwhile, Elvis Ngonde, Charles Lwanga, and Diego Ssemugera have all departed SC Villa. Ngonde and Lwanga joined KCCA FC, while Ssemugera completed a move to Kitara FC.
