Africa Renewal University made a winning start to their 2027 Pepsi University Football League campaign, securing a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Muni University at their campus in Bulaba on Thursday, October 29.

Jimmy Bazanyi and Juma Kakaire scored towards the end of either half to seal the victory for the hosts in a match that featured several promising but unconverted scoring opportunities.

Bazanyi broke the deadlock in the 38th minute to give Africa Renewal University a first-half advantage, before Kakaire doubled the lead in the 89th minute to confirm all three points for the home side.

The hosts had threatened to score earlier, with Musa Kenny Lubega striking the crossbar, while Joel Mukiibi also saw his effort blocked.

Muni University, meanwhile, created opportunities after the half-time break, but Simon Peter Mugisha and Desire Oparwoth failed to convert their promising chances.

Africa Renewal University eventually secured a comfortable victory to get their campaign off to a positive start as they prepare to return to action next month.

Meanwhile, the Pepsi University Football League continues on Friday, October 30, with Kampala University hosting the University of Kisubi in Kampala.
