Kenya Name Provisional Squad for Uganda Clash in FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers

The head coach of the Kenya U17 Women’s national team, Mildred Cheche, has named a provisional squad ahead of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Uganda.

The squad comprises three goalkeepers, nine defenders, nine midfielders, and nine forwards.

The first leg will be played on May 22 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, before the return leg on May 30 at Nyayo Stadium in Kenya.

Kenya progressed to this stage after eliminating Namibia 7-1 on aggregate, while Uganda’s Teen Cranes advanced with a 6-1 aggregate victory over Zimbabwe.

In the previous edition, Kenya eliminated Uganda 5-0 on aggregate in the same qualifiers.

Uganda head coach Sheryl Botes is currently with the U20 team, which lost 2-1 to Ghana on Sunday in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The team will be hoping to overturn the result in the return leg this Saturday and secure qualification before shifting focus to the U17 side ahead of the clash with Kenya.

The Junior Starlets’ provisional squad is expected to enter camp on Wednesday, May 6.
