Mulago-based Rams Rugby Club pulled off a stunning upset at Lugogo on Sunday evening, August 23, 2026, as they were crowned Kyadondo 7s champions after edging hosts Platinum Credit Heathens 12-10 in a thrilling final.
The two-day tournament, held at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, saw Rams rise to the occasion when it mattered most, silencing the home crowd and taking the trophy back to their camp.
Rams took control of the final in the opening half, with Yusuf Semakula crossing the whitewash twice and adding a successful conversion to give his side a commanding 12-point lead.
The hosts, Platinum Credit Heathens, came out fighting in the second half and mounted a spirited comeback. Lawrence Sebuliba and Emma Odoi both scored tries, but two missed conversions proved costly as the Heathens fell just short of completing the comeback.
Rams held their nerve to see out the final whistle, winning 12-10 and securing the title in what was a remarkable turnaround for the Mulago-based side.
The victory also makes Rams the third different team to win a circuit this season.

The opening circuit was claimed by Walukuba Barbarians, who triumphed at the tournament hosted by Jinja Hippos, while the second circuit, the Rujjumba 7s hosted by Stanbic Black Pirates, was won by the hosts.
Rams began their Kyadondo 7s campaign in a tough group alongside Stanbic Black Pirates, Plascon Mongers and Mbale Elephants.
They finished second in the group with eight points, booking their place in the main quarter-finals before progressing all the way to the final.
For Rams, it was a case of fortune favouring the brave as they punched above their weight, kept their composure when the pressure was at its peak and walked away with the crown on the hosts’ home ground.
