VIDEO: 2028 Olympics Qualifiers – Crested Cranes Draw Zambia

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has conducted the draw for the African qualifying phase of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament.

The draw was held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, and broadcast live on CAF TV.

Uganda’s Crested Cranes have been drawn against continental powerhouse Zambia.

Crested Cranes will enter the competition at the second round, where they are scheduled to face Zambia between October 5 and 13, 2026.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Zambia will progress to the third round, where they will face either Ghana or the winner between Mauritius and Djibouti.

Zambia have qualified for the Olympic Games twice, achieving back-to-back appearances in 2020 and 2024.

Uganda, on the other hand, is still seeking its first-ever qualification for the final tournament.

The qualification campaign will be played over five rounds, with only two teams representing Africa at the Women’s Football Tournament of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, scheduled to take place from July 11 to 29, 2028.

In the previous edition, Cameroon eliminated the Crested Cranes with a 3-2 aggregate victory in the qualifiers.
