Magera Reflects on Key Kitara Victory, Sends Message to Mutebi
By: Geoffrey Mugabi
KCCA FC co-head coach Jackson Magera has praised his team’s performance following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kitara FC and also shared a heartfelt message after spotting former head coach Mike Mutebi in the stands.
Speaking after the match on Friday evening, Magera acknowledged the difficulty of the contest and credited both his players and the fans for their role in securing an important result.
“It wasn’t an easy game. Kitara are a tough side, but I want to appreciate the team and the fans for the good job,” Magera said.
“We prepared the boys to avoid the mistakes we made in previous games, and that is why we managed to win today.”
Midfielder Joel Sserunjogi scored the decisive goal just before halftime, finishing off a well-worked move initiated by Saidi Mayanja.
Magera revealed that the goal was a product of deliberate training ground work.
“Joel Sserunjogi has great technique, and we have been working on that kind of movement in training. It was good to see it replicated in the game,” he added.

The match also carried emotional significance, as former KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi was present in the stands. Mutebi has recently been battling health challenges, and his appearance was warmly received.
“I’m happy to see coach Mike Mutebi among the people who watched the game,” Magera said.
“I thank everyone who has put in effort to ensure he is improving health-wise, and I wish to see him even better.”
The victory lifts KCCA FC to second place on the Uganda Premier League table with 48 points, just four behind leaders Vipers SC, whom they are yet to face in the return leg.
KCCA FC will next face Entebbe UPPC on 21 April in Bugonga before visiting Calvary. They will then host Vipers SC on 29 April in a potentially decisive fixture in the title race.
Meanwhile, matchday 23 of the Uganda Premier League concludes today with NEC FC hosting Maroons FC at MTN-Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
