Why Kawempe Muslim Ladies Deserved to Win the 2025/26 FUFA Women Super League Title

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC clinched their sixth league title on the final day of the 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League season.

The Valley Warriors needed victory against Olila High School WFC and had to hope that She Corporate FC failed to win in order to secure the championship.

The results went in their favour as Agnes Nabukenya, Latifah Nakasi, and Jovia Nakagolo each found the back of the net in Kawempe’s 3-1 victory over Olila on Sunday. Mary Lotyang scored the consolation goal for the visitors, while title rivals She Corporate were held to a goalless draw by She Maroons in Njeru.

The win took Kawempe Muslim Ladies to 52 points, while She Corporate finished on 51 points, handing Kawempe the league crown by a single point.

But between the two title contenders, which side truly deserved to win the league based on performance throughout the season?

Here is why Kawempe Muslim Ladies deserved to be champions.

After 22 matches, Kawempe were the team with the fewest defeats in the league. They lost only two matches, both against Makerere University WFC, home and away.

In comparison, She Corporate suffered three defeats, including home and away losses to Kawempe Muslim Ladies and another defeat to Uganda Martyrs WFC on matchday 21.

Kawempe also finished as the league’s highest-scoring side with 43 goals while conceding the fewest goals (13), highlighting both their attacking strength and defensive solidity.

She Corporate scored 38 goals, the third-highest tally behind Kawempe (43) and Kampala Queens (41). Defensively, they conceded 15 goals, the fourth-fewest in the league behind Kawempe (13), Amus College WFC (14), and She Maroons (14).

Kawempe were also the only side with two players reaching double figures in goals scored. Latifah Nakasi finished with 15 goals, while Agnes Nabukenya added 10.

For She Corporate, only Jesca Namanda managed double figures, scoring 15 goals to finish joint top scorer alongside Nakasi.

She Corporate’s second-highest scorer was Rebecca Nakato with six goals, still fewer than Kawempe’s third-top scorer Jovia Nakagolo, who netted seven times.

Away from home, Kawempe lost just once all season, against Makerere University WFC. She Corporate, meanwhile, lost two away matches, against Kawempe Muslim Ladies and Uganda Martyrs WFC.

Kawempe also registered the league’s longest unbeaten run with nine matches, compared to She Corporate’s run of eight games.

From matchday one to matchday nine, Kawempe remained unbeaten, winning eight matches and drawing once against Kampala Queens in the opening fixture. During that run, they also defeated She Corporate 2-0 away from home.

Statistically, Kawempe Muslim Ladies were slightly better than She Corporate over the course of the season, which explains why the title race went down to the final day and was decided by just one point.

Despite missing out on the title, She Corporate head coach Ininahazwe Belyse deserves credit for guiding her side through an impressive campaign in both her first season at the club and in the league.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies have now won the league title six times — in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2023/24, and 2025/26.

At the other end of the table, Olila High School WFC and Asubo Ladies were relegated after finishing with five and one point respectively — the lowest points tally ever recorded by relegated teams in FUFA Women Super League history.

Meanwhile, Latifah Nakasi and Jesca Namanda shared the Golden Boot award after both finished the season with 15 goals.

She Corporate forward Jesca Namanda was named the league’s Most Valuable Player despite her side narrowly missing out on the title, while teammate Molly Naava won the Best Goalkeeper award after keeping 12 clean sheets.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies also received the Fair Play Award following their title-winning campaign.

The Valley Warriors will now represent Uganda in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers later this year.
