My FUFA Women Super League Best XI of the 2025/26 Season

The 2025/26 FUFA Women Super League season delivered excitement, quality performances, and a competitive title race that went down to the final day, with Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC eventually emerging champions.

Several players stood out with consistent performances, leadership, and individual brilliance throughout the campaign, earning recognition among the league’s best performers.

Based on consistency, impact, and overall contribution to their respective teams, here is my Best XI of the season

Goalkeeper: Molly Naava

The goalkeeper kept 12 clean sheets, the highest by any goalkeeper in the league, and deservedly won the Golden Glove award. She produced several outstanding performances where her individual brilliance earned crucial points for She Corporate FC.

Right Back: Cissy Nakate

One of the league’s most underrated players, Cissy Nakate consistently delivered impressive performances throughout the season.

Solid defensively, difficult to beat in one-on-one situations, and composed in possession, she established herself as one of the best defenders in the league.

Left Back: Aminah Nakato

When Nakato left She Corporate FC to join Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC at the start of the 2025/26 season, many believed she was past her best. However, she proved she still had plenty to offer.

Naturally a right-back, Nakato was deployed at left-back to fill the void left by Jolly Kobusinge, who joined Kampala Queens FC. She responded brilliantly, helping Kawempe keep 10 clean sheets and win the league title.

Centre Back: Hadijah Babirye

The calm, composed, and soft-spoken defender played a key role in Kawempe’s defensive organisation and build-up play.

Her excellent reading of the game helped the team keep 10 clean sheets while conceding the fewest goals in the league.

Centre Back: Catherine Namukose

One of the league’s unsung heroes, Namukose was outstanding defensively throughout the season.

She remained disciplined and committed to the tactical setup in every game. Her side, Makerere University WFC, kept 10 clean sheets, and she was voted the club’s Defender of the Season.

She also won three Player of the Match awards in home games against She Corporate FC, Amus College WFC, and Kampala Queens FC.

Midfield: Patricia Nayiga

Comfortable on the ball and excellent at creating chances, Nayiga was one of the league’s standout midfielders this season.

She also contributed six goals, finishing as her club’s top scorer.

Midfield: Mary Lotyang

Olila High School WFC scored only nine goals throughout the season, with Lotyang directly contributing seven of them through four goals and three assists.

She captained the side and led experienced players such as Grace Aluka with maturity and confidence. She remains one of the most enjoyable players to watch in the league.

Midfield: Agnes Nabukenya

A committed, determined, and influential leader, Nabukenya scored 10 league goals and provided seven assists as she played a major role in Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC’s league title triumph.

Forward: Catherine Nagadya

Although it was not the season she had hoped for collectively, Nagadya still earned her place in this team based on individual performances.

The pacey forward scored 10 league goals and registered five assists, making her statistically Kampala Queens FC’s best player of the season.

Forward: Latifah Nakasi

What a season it was for the natural goal poacher. Nakasi finished the campaign as the joint top scorer with 15 goals and also won her maiden league title with Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC.

Forward: Jesca Namanda

One of the league’s most consistent players throughout the campaign, Namanda narrowly missed out on winning the league title with her club on the final day.

However, she still finished as the league’s joint top scorer with 15 goals and was deservedly named the league’s Most Valuable Player.

Coach: Ayub Khalifah

Despite Ininahazwe Belyse pushing the title race to the final day in her debut season in Uganda, Ayub Khalifah edges the selection after guiding Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC to the league title.

His side remained committed and consistent from the opening day to the end of the season. Kawempe also defeated She Corporate FC home and away while losing the fewest matches in the league with only two defeats.
