The 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup Round of 16 gets underway on Saturday afternoon as FUFA Women Super League champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC host fellow top-flight side Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC in one of the standout fixtures of the round.

Both teams received byes to the Round of 16 after reaching the quarterfinals of last season’s competition, making this their first match of the 2026 campaign.

Kawempe Muslim will be aiming to keep their hopes of a domestic double alive after winning the 2025/26 FUFA Women Super League title.

Uganda Martyrs, meanwhile, will be targeting silverware after missing out on the league crown.

The two sides have history in this competition. In 2023, Uganda Martyrs eliminated Kawempe Muslim on their way to winning their maiden FUFA Women’s Cup title, defeating She Maroons FC 1-0 in the final.

Despite being one of the most successful clubs in Ugandan women’s football, Kawempe Muslim are yet to win the FUFA Women’s Cup.

Last season, they narrowly missed out on the trophy after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Amus College WFC in the final.

When the two sides met during the recently concluded 2025/26 season, Kawempe Muslim won both encounters.

The league champions also carry a dominant record into the match, having won each of their last seven meetings against Uganda Martyrs.

Kawempe captain Agnes Nabukenya has particularly enjoyed facing Uganda Martyrs, scoring four goals in her last six appearances against Saturday’s opponents.

Uganda Martyrs will look to the attacking duo of Angel Kigongo Auki and Brenda Munyana for goals, while Kawempe Muslim will rely on Agnes Nabukenya, Latifah Nakasi, and Jovia Nakagolo to lead the charge in attack.

According to the tournament regulations, if the teams are level at the end of normal time, two periods of extra time of 15 minutes each will be played.

Should the sides remain tied after extra time, the winner will be determined through a penalty shootout.
