Two Uganda Premier League Giants Battle for 10-Goal Attacker

Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC and URA FC are interested in signing Clinton Kamugisha following his impressive performances during the 2025-26 season, Sports Light Uganda understands.

The versatile forward, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or centre-forward, has attracted interest from several top-flight clubs after an outstanding campaign with Mbarara City FC.

The 26-year-old scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 20 appearances across all competitions last season, establishing himself as one of the club’s most influential players.

KCCA FC are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026-27 season as they seek to challenge for major honours.

With leading striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe reportedly on the verge of leaving the club, the Kasasiro Boys are keen to recruit an attacker capable of contributing goals, while also adding depth to their forward line.

Meanwhile, URA FC have also identified the player as a transfer target. However, sources indicate that the Tax Collectors are likely to make a formal approach after appointing a new head coach following the departure of Hussein Mbalangu.

The former Kitara FC attacker was among the standout performers during the second half of the 2025-26 Uganda Premier League season, playing a key role in helping Mbarara City avoid relegation.

His contributions were instrumental as the Ankole Lions secured survival and finished 12th in the league standings.

Both KCCA FC and URA FC are expected to make significant changes to their squads during the transfer window, with several players anticipated to depart.

As a result, the race for the highly-rated attacker is expected to intensify, with the player likely to join the club that presents the most attractive offer.
