Four Players Set to Leave Kitara

Kitara FC are set to part ways with four players ahead of the 2026-27 season, according to reports from Swift Sports.

Goalkeeper James Alitho, Amir Kakomo, Sadiq Ssekyembe, and Frank Kasumba, are all expected to leave the Royals as the club begins preparations for the new campaign.

The quartet are understood to have fallen short of expectations, prompting the club to make the decision to release them.

Alitho joined Kitara FC from Wakiso Giants at the start of the 2025-26 season but struggled to establish himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The experienced shot-stopper failed to displace Meddie Kibirige, who enjoyed an outstanding season and was among the club’s standout performers in both the Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup.

Meanwhile, both Ssekyembe and Kakomo endured injury-plagued campaigns that significantly limited their playing time.

Sources indicate that the two players have already been informed of the club’s decision and are expected to seek new opportunities elsewhere.

Kasumba, who joined Kitara from Mbarara City FC, also found playing time hard to come by and is set to leave after an underwhelming spell with the Hoima-based side.

The midfielder is reportedly attracting interest from Lugazi FC, although any potential move is likely to depend on the club’s ongoing restructuring process.

Lugazi recently parted ways with head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa and assistant coach Robert Sekweyama and are expected to appoint a new technical team before making further transfer decisions.

More changes are anticipated at Kitara FC as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the 2026-27 season.
