BUL FC Explain Decision Behind Departure of 10 Players

Uganda Premier League side BUL FC have confirmed the departure of 10 players following the expiry of their contracts, with the club opting to focus on youth development and long-term squad building.

The club announced on Friday, June 12, that the players will leave as part of a strategic plan to invest in emerging talent and assemble a competitive squad capable of challenging for honours in the coming seasons.

Among the notable departures is forward Karim Ndugwa, who finished as BUL FC’s top scorer in the 2025-26 Uganda Premier League season with eight goals.

Left-back Nicholas Mwere is also among the players leaving the club. The defender has already secured a move to Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, signing a three-year contract with the Kitende-based side.

Other players confirmed to have left BUL FC include Frederick Ngalo, Viane Sekajugo, Isaac Wagoina, Jerome Kirya, Thomas Ochungo, Julius Barasa, Ibrahim Orit and Bakali Magumba.

The club indicated that the list of departures could grow further as it continues to restructure the squad and create opportunities for players from its junior ranks.

BUL FC endured a disappointing 2025-26 campaign, finishing ninth in the Uganda Premier League standings with 37 points, a result that saw them miss out on qualification for next season’s FUFA Super 8 tournament.

As part of their rebuilding process, the Eastern Giants are expected to recruit more than 12 players while also promoting several outstanding talents from their junior team as they pursue sustainable long-term development and future success.
