Dates for 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers Revealed

The dates for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers have been confirmed, with Rwanda set to host the regional showpiece later this year.

This website understands that the tournament will kick off on August 22 and conclude on September 6, as the region’s top women’s clubs battle for a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Hosts Rwanda will be represented by Rayon Sports Women FC, who finished as runners-up in the previous edition of the competition.

In Tanzania, defending champions JKT Queens failed to retain their domestic league title, meaning Simba Queens will represent the country at this year’s qualifiers.

Ugandan internationals Ruth Aturo and Zaina Nandede are part of the Simba Queens squad and both have previous experience in the competition, having featured for Vihiga Queens and Kampala Queens respectively.

Uganda will be represented by Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC after winning the 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League title.

The Valley Warriors last represented Uganda in the tournament in 2024, where they secured a bronze medal finish.

Kenya’s representatives will be Kenya Police Bullets, who also claimed a bronze medal in the previous edition.

The Kenyan side boasts a strong Ugandan contingent, including Crested Cranes stars Daisy Nakaziro, Zaina Namuleme, Margaret Kunihira, and Desire Katisi Natooro.

Among Ugandan clubs, She Corporate FC remain the country’s most successful side in the competition after finishing as runners-up in the 2022 edition.

The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) is expected to announce the full list of participating clubs, as well as the group-stage draw and fixture schedule, in the coming weeks.

With regional supremacy and a coveted place in the CAF Women’s Champions League at stake, another fiercely contested tournament is expected in Rwanda.
