Uganda Premier League newcomers Kigezi HomeBoyz have confirmed the appointment of Joseph Harold Mutyaba as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, June 24, through the club’s official social media platforms.

In a statement, the club welcomed Mutyaba and wished him success as he prepares to lead the team in its maiden campaign in the Uganda Premier League.

Mutyaba has signed a two-year employment contract with Kigezi HomeBoyz and will be tasked with helping the club establish itself in the top flight following its historic promotion.

He replaces Sadiq Ssempigi, who guided the club to Uganda Premier League promotion for the first time in its history.

However, FUFA regulations require all Uganda Premier League head coaches to possess a CAF A Coaching Licence.

With Ssempigi holding a CAF B Licence, the club was compelled to appoint a coach who meets the top-flight requirements.

Mutyaba’s most recent coaching role was with Malindi Sports Club in Zanzibar. He has also previously managed Masavu FC, Soltilo Bright Stars, Tooro United, and Onduparaka FC, among other clubs.

During his playing career, Mutyaba featured for several clubs, including URA FC, SC Villa, Express FC, and clubs in Oman. He also earned a number of caps for the Uganda Cranes.

Kigezi HomeBoyz secured promotion to the Uganda Premier League for the 2026/27 season and will be hoping Mutyaba’s experience can help the club retain its top-flight status.

The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on August 28, with the fixtures expected to be released a month earlier.
