Omedi Faces Transfer Dilemma Amid KCCA Interest
Uganda Cranes forward Denis Omedi faces a crucial decision over his future as interest from Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC intensifies while his current club, APR FC, reconsiders its plans.
This website reported in June 2026 that Omedi and APR FC were expected to part ways after the forward struggled for regular playing time despite the Rwandan champions enjoying another successful domestic campaign.
According to reliable sources, Omedi is keen to leave APR FC in search of consistent first-team football as he looks to cement his place in the Uganda Cranes squad ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The experienced forward has already held talks with KCCA FC over a possible move to Lugogo, where he would reunite with head coach Brian Ssenyondo.
However, reports indicate that APR FC have since changed their stance on terminating the player’s contract.
Instead, the club is now understood to prefer either selling Omedi during the current transfer window or retaining him until the expiry of his contract in six months’ time.
The development leaves Omedi with a difficult decision. The forward must either persuade KCCA FC to negotiate a transfer fee with APR FC and potentially accept a lower signing package, or remain in Rwanda until January 2027 before leaving as a free agent.
Despite reportedly earning more than UGX 10 million per month at APR FC, the soft-spoken forward is said to be willing to take a significant pay cut to secure regular playing time at KCCA FC.
Omedi has established himself as one of Uganda’s most experienced attackers in recent years. He played a pivotal role in Kitara FC’s historic 2024 Stanbic Uganda Cup triumph before earning a regular place in the Uganda Cranes squad, featuring in AFCON and FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
His spectacular rabona goal against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8 also received continental and global recognition after being nominated for the CAF Goal of the Year and the FIFA Puskás Award.
Should the move materialise, Omedi would significantly strengthen KCCA FC’s attacking options as the Kasasiro Boys continue rebuilding their squad in pursuit of their first major trophy since 2019.
KCCA FC have already completed the signing of midfielder Elvis Ngonde from SC Villa on a three-year contract and officially began their pre-season preparations on Wednesday, July 1. With the transfer window now open, more arrivals are expected at Lugogo.
The Kasasiro Boys finished second in the Uganda Premier League last season and were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
