SC Villa Continue Dominance Over URA FC

StarTimes Uganda Premier League record champions SC Villa continued their dominance over URA FC with a 1-0 victory at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial, on Friday.

Reagan Mpande scored the decisive goal in the 23rd minute, heading home from a Frank Ssebuufu assist to hand SC Villa their sixth consecutive victory over URA FC.

URA FC dominated much of the game but struggled in the final third and were wasteful in front of goal.

The Tax Collectors started with Nalson Ssenkatuka leading the attack, but he failed to make an impact as URA FC did not register a single attempt on target during the opening exchanges.

Teenager Emmanuel Oula came closest early on when his effort in the fourth minute went just inches wide of the target.

The game thereafter lacked commanding performances from either side, although URA FC forced nearly 10 corner kicks in the first half.

However, in the 23rd minute, SC Villa found the breakthrough after URA FC captain Moses Aliri lost possession from the right-back position, allowing the ball to eventually end up in the back of the net through Reagan Mpande’s header.

SC Villa managed to withstand the pressure for the remainder of the game, relying on counter-attacks, although their efforts produced no further goals.

In the final quarter, URA FC pushed for an equaliser, with Norman Namanya, who had replaced Marvin Nyanzi, striking the crossbar.

Earlier in the game, John Innocent Kisoro came on as a first-half substitute, with URA FC head coach Jimmy Kintu sacrificing young talent Oula as he looked to add more attacking threat and regain control of the game.

Kisoro brought fresh energy to URA FC’s attack and executed his role well in the second half, forcing goalkeeper David Lukwago into a save that saw him push the ball out for a corner.

In the dying minutes, URA FC’s Eric Okutu kept the pressure alive with an effort that struck the crossbar. On another occasion, he forced David Lukwago into his best save of the day.

Eventually, SC Villa secured their sixth consecutive win over URA FC and extended their unbeaten run in the fixture to nine games, a streak stretching back to 2023.
