Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC needed two late goals from striker Jovia Nakagolo to overcome Amus WFC and maintain their position at the top of the table in a dramatic and chaotic encounter.
In the match played in Bukedea, Nakagolo’s late brace inspired Kawempe to come from behind and secure a 2-1 victory over the hosts, who had taken the lead through Doreen Aujat.
Aujat gave Amus an early advantage with a brilliant individual effort, beating her marker before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper.
Kawempe, however, dominated much of the first half but were unable to find an equaliser, heading into the break trailing 1-0.
After the restart, the visitors intensified their search for a goal, but clear chances remained limited until the closing stages of the match.
The turning point came in the final five minutes when Amus goalkeeper Elizabeth Atieno fumbled a cross, allowing Nakagolo to capitalise and level the score.
Moments later, Nakagolo struck again, heading home to complete the comeback and secure all three points for Kawempe.
Tensions flared after the final whistle as Amus fans reacted angrily to the late defeat. A match official was reportedly shoved and beaten during the ensuing chaos, bringing a sour end to an otherwise thrilling contest.
Despite the incidents, Kawempe demonstrated resilience and a never-say-die attitude to extend their lead at the top of the table to 39 points.
In their next fixture, Kawempe will host Lady Doves on Sunday, March 29, while Amus will travel to face Makerere University WFC on the same day.
