FUFA Suspends Match Officials, Including Two FIFA Assistant Referees Over Officiating Errors

The FUFA Referees Disciplinary Panel has taken action against several match officials following officiating breaches in recent Startimes Uganda Premier League matches.

Among the suspended officials are two FIFA assistant referees, Okudra Emmanuel and Ongiera Immaculate.

In a statement dated March 23, 2026, the panel confirmed multiple suspensions, with affected officials set to undergo refresher training courses.

In the match between Buhimba United Saints FC and Police FC, six officials were handed three-month suspensions for breaching officiating standards.

Those suspended include referee Musisi Henry, assistant referees Kinyera Fred and Mbabali Samuel, fourth official Semakula John, match commissioner Kugonza Seemu Christopher, and referee assessor Kimbugwe Hilary Godfrey.

The decision followed several incidents in the match, including a controversial equaliser scored by Eric Nyonyintono for Buhimba, who was wearing a different jersey colour from his teammates at the time of the goal.

In another ruling from the SC Villa versus Express FC fixture, assistant referee Ongiera Immaculate has been suspended for three months after incorrectly flagging a legitimate goal for offside.

The disallowed goal was scored by Hassan Mubiru, who was clearly onside. The decision was later confirmed as an error through video evidence.

Additionally, referee Okudra Emmanuel has been suspended for three months following errors in the Police FC versus SC Villa match.

Okudra disallowed a clear goal scored by Frank Ssebufu, wrongly ruling it out for offside despite no infringement.

All the suspended officials are required to undertake refresher courses as part of measures to improve officiating standards.

The disciplinary actions underline FUFA’s commitment to ensuring accountability and enhancing the quality of refereeing in domestic competitions.
