The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed receipt of an appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) against a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that stripped Senegal of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 title.
CAF had ruled on March 17, 2026, that Senegal forfeited the final, awarding a 3-0 victory to Morocco and recognizing them as champions.
In response, the FSF is seeking to have that decision overturned, requesting CAS to declare Senegal as the rightful winners.
The federation has also asked for a suspension of the deadline to submit its full appeal until CAF provides detailed grounds for its ruling.
CAS confirmed that an arbitral panel will be appointed to handle the case. Once proceedings begin, Senegal will have ten days to file its appeal brief with full legal arguments.

The respondents, including CAF, will then be granted twenty days to submit their response and statement of defence.
At this stage, CAS noted that it is too early to determine the full procedural timeline or when the hearing will take place.
CAS Director General Matthieu Reeb stated that the body is well-equipped to handle such disputes and will ensure the process is conducted as swiftly as possible while guaranteeing fairness to all parties.
The appeal sets up a decisive legal battle that could potentially overturn CAF’s ruling and restore Senegal’s AFCON 2025 title.
