Mucureezi Parts Ways with NEC FC
Forward Paul Mucureezi has left Uganda Premier League side NEC FC, this website understands.
According to sources, Mucureezi mutually agreed with the club to terminate his contract. The decision was reached prior to NEC’s Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal clash against Vipers SC, after which he officially departed.
Following the arrival of head coach Badru Kaddu, Mucureezi reportedly fell out of the team’s plans, a situation that ultimately influenced his decision to leave the club.
In December 2025, Mucureezi posted a message on his X (formerly Twitter) account stating:
“It’s all about falling in love with yourself and sharing that love with someone who appreciates you, rather than looking for love to compensate for a self-love deficit.”
The post was widely interpreted as a reflection of his situation at the club, particularly regarding limited playing time.

While appearing on NBS Sport TV, former NEC FC head coach Hussein Mbalangu described Mucureezi and Muzamir Mutyaba as two of the best players he has managed in his coaching career.
In March this year, Mucureezi also shared a post on his X account featuring a book cover with his image titled The Game, The Rules, The Skills, suggesting a possible upcoming publication.
Mucureezi joined NEC FC from Kitara FC in 2024 and was a key figure for the team until this season.

With his departure, there are indications that more players could leave the club at the end of the current campaign.
The 33-year-old forward has earned nine caps for the Uganda Cranes, scoring four goals.
Reports further suggest that the devout member of the Anglican Church of Uganda could consider a future in politics.
Over the course of his career, Mucureezi has featured for Mutundwe Lions, Mbarara City, KCCA FC, Vipers SC, Kitara FC, and NEC FC.
