FUFA Scraps Morning Kick-off Time for Women Super League
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed a change in the kick-off time for matches in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League, effective from the 2026/27 season.
The announcement was made during the FUFA Women Leagues Pre-season Workshop held on Wednesday, July 8, at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
The workshop, chaired by FUFA Club Licensing Committee Chairperson Jeremiah Mugerwa, brought together chief executive officers from the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League to review the previous season and discuss preparations for the upcoming campaign.
Beginning with the 2026/27 season, all Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League matches will kick off at 4:00 p.m.
In 2022, FUFA changed the league’s kick-off time from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, the decision to revert to morning kick-offs in subsequent seasons drew criticism from women’s football stakeholders, many of whom questioned why the league was no longer being played in the evening.

Speaking during the workshop, FUFA Competitions Director Shawn Mubiru said the federation would continue engaging clubs affiliated with men’s teams to share match venues as a way of reducing operational costs for women’s clubs.
“For women’s clubs that are partnering with men’s clubs, we will continue engaging them to ensure they share match-day venues with their partners. It is something that is a no-brainer, and we believe the men’s clubs can support the women’s clubs in this area and help uplift them. These are some of the costs that women’s clubs continue to face,” Mubiru said.
He described the workshop as a productive engagement that provided both FUFA and the clubs with an opportunity to openly discuss issues affecting women’s football ahead of the new season.
“It was a very good and engaging workshop,” he added.
The 2026/27 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League season is scheduled to kick off on September 12, 2026, with Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC entering the campaign as the defending champions.
