KCCA FC vs UPDF FC — Abandoned

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Uganda Premier League match between KCCA FC and UPDF FC was abandoned on Thursday evening after the floodlights went off, disrupting the game at a crucial early stage.

The match, which kicked off at 7:00 PM, suffered a setback in the 10th minute when the lights went off, forcing play to stop.

Despite a wait of more than 40 minutes, the situation had not been resolved, leaving players, officials and fans waiting for a possible resumption.

After approximately 40 minutes, KCCA FC club media officer Moses Magero issued an official communication confirming that the match had been abandoned.

The decision disappointed many football fans who had turned up to watch the Uganda Premier League encounter, with hopes of seeing the two sides battle for points cut short by the disruption.

Attention will now turn to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), whose official communication is expected to clarify whether the fixture will be rescheduled and when it might be played.

Meanwhile, the incident could have consequences for the hosts, KCCA FC, if the FUFA Competitions Department determines that the club was responsible for the failure to provide adequate lighting arrangements.

Possible sanctions would depend on the findings of the relevant authorities and the applicable competition regulations. Any suggestion of point deductions remains speculative until FUFA issues an official decision.

The abandonment adds another development to the league campaign, with both clubs now awaiting clarification on the fixture’s status.
