KFU Appreciates Kyano Estate International for Continued Support

The Kabaddi Federation of Uganda (KFU) has expressed its gratitude to Kyano Estate International for its unwavering support towards the development of Kabaddi in Uganda following the conclusion of a one-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 2025/26 financial year.

Under the partnership, Kyano Estate International provided an annual development grant of UGX 12 million, disbursed in four quarterly installments of UGX 3 million each throughout the financial year.

According to the federation, the funding has played a significant role in sustaining its operations and supporting key development programs.

The funds have contributed towards office rent, schools championships, preparations for the national women’s team ahead of the 2025 Women’s Kabaddi World Cup in Bangladesh, hosting the Under-20 Africa Kabaddi Championship in Uganda, and various capacity-building initiatives.

KFU noted that these activities have strengthened the federation, increased the popularity of Kabaddi across the country, and expanded the sport’s national reach.

The federation further expressed its desire to continue working with Kyano Estate International in the future, emphasizing the positive impact the partnership has had on the Kabaddi fraternity and the youth.

Meanwhile, KFU has already commenced preparations for its 2026/27 activity calendar, which includes several major national and international events.

At the grassroots level, primary schools across the country are preparing for district competitions, while secondary schools that participate in Kabaddi are gearing up for the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games II, scheduled to take place from July 8 to 18, 2026, at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu.

The men’s national team, the Gladiators, is currently in a residential training camp ahead of the Africa Kabaddi Cup of Nations, which will be held in Zanzibar from August 1 to 10, 2026.

In addition, both the men’s and women’s national teams are expected to represent Uganda at the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship, slated for October 10 to 20, 2026, in Ahmedabad, India.

As preparations continue for these major events, the federation has called upon the Government, private sector partners, and sponsors to invest in the growth and development of Kabaddi in Uganda.

KFU believes that increased support will help expand the sport’s reach, strengthen grassroots development, and create a greater impact among young people and communities across the country.
