Russian Giants Spartak Moscow Target Uganda Cranes Defender
Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow are reportedly interested in signing Uganda Cranes defender Aziz Kayondo from Czech club Slovan Liberec.
According to FIFA-licensed agent and senior football journalist Ronnie Santos, Spartak Moscow have already submitted an official bid to Slovan Liberec as they seek to secure the services of the highly-rated left-back.
Reports indicate that Spartak Moscow’s offer stands at USD 1.8 million, while Slovan Liberec are demanding approximately USD 3 million for the Ugandan international.
Kayondo has established himself as a key player at Slovan Liberec, becoming a regular starter since joining the Czech top-flight side in 2024.
During the 2025/26 season, the 23-year-old featured in 27 league matches, starting 25 of them and averaging 74 minutes per game.
Spartak Moscow finished fourth in the 2025/26 Russian Premier League standings behind champions Zenit Saint Petersburg, runners-up Krasnodar, and third-placed Lokomotiv Moscow.
The former Vipers SC defender has enjoyed a well-travelled professional career, having previously featured for CD Leganés and Leganés B in Spain, MFK Vyškov in the Czech Republic, Real Monarchs in the United States, and Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel.
A move to Spartak Moscow would represent another significant step in Kayondo’s career and could make him one of the most expensive Ugandan footballers in history if the clubs reach an agreement.
